Poffertjes originate in Holland in the 15th Century. They are slightly bigger than a 50p pieces tasting a bit like a pancake but are sweet and made with yeast. Served ten on a plate with a knob of butter and icing sugar which is the Dutch traditional way or with chocolate, toffee or stoop sauce and taste yummy.
